Destiny & Drew

Prasonga began in 2021 as a circle of musicians from different corners of the world, gathered to make something new. Today it lives at its heart: Destiny and Drew McGrail, wife and husband, who wrote the songs from the start and now record and produce every track themselves.

The sound draws on Caribbean, South American and African rhythm, on gospel and soul, and on the mountain music of the Ozarks and Appalachia. The aim is the same as it was on day one: music that raises the vibration, carries a message of hope and love, and leaves room for the spirit to move through long, improvised passages.

Their songwriting began in the fall of 2020, when the world went quiet. That stillness became a season of healing, and a large body of original music grew out of it.

Destiny

Vocals · Keys · Songwriter

Destiny grew up surrounded by music in a charismatic church setting and began classical piano at seven. She soon preferred playing by ear and adding her own ideas, and found her way to spirit-led playing, harmony and transcendental improvisation. She is also a poet, and a botanist and herbalist who tends a regenerative herb farm in the Ozarks. Medicine music that brings awareness, love and hope is her cornerstone.

Drew

Guitar · Vocals · Producer

Drew grew up in a small southern Missouri town with the natural world all around him and his father's record collection, reaching back to the 1960s, close at hand. He studied songwriting and theory as a teenager, played college bars, and cut his teeth on studio session work and sound engineering. Years in a Colorado mountain town, where bands freely blended world music, bluegrass and rock, convinced him that anything is possible in music, and that people need to dance.
